NOME COMUNE ELLEBORINA COMUNE Descrizione Pianta alta 20-70 cm, con apparato ipogeo costituito <strong>di</strong> un rizoma orizzontale da cui si <strong>di</strong>partono numerose ra<strong>di</strong>ci ingrossate. Scapo eretto, verdastro o più o meno arrossato in alto, talora flessuoso. Foglie basali assenti, le cauline <strong>di</strong>sposte a spirale, larghe, ovato-lanceolate o ellittiche, abbraccianti il fusto e più lunghe degli interno<strong>di</strong>; foglie superiori linearilanceolate, bratteiformi. Infiorescenza allungata, densa e in genere unilaterale, composta <strong>di</strong> molti fiori (fino a 40) patenti o penduli. Brattee ver<strong>di</strong>, lanceolate, le inferiori più lunghe dell’intero fiore, le superiori progressivamente ridotte. Sepali ovati, <strong>di</strong>vergenti, verdastri o soffusi <strong>di</strong> rosa, con venature evidenti; petali poco più larghi, rosati, più o meno verdastri alla base. Labello <strong>di</strong> colore variabile dal biancastro, al verde, rosa o rosa-porporino; ipochilo semisferico, verde-rosato all’esterno, marrone all’interno; epichilo cuoriforme, con apice rivolto all’in<strong>di</strong>etro e, alla base, due gibbosità rugose; ovario piriforme, pubescente e peduncolato. Habitat Querceti, leccete, faggete e arbusteti (tra 150 e 1700 m slm). Periodo <strong>di</strong> fioritura Maggio-luglio. Distribuzione Paleotemperata. È presente in tutto il territorio italiano, meno frequente al sud. Note tassonomiche Sono almeno 11 le sottospecie note nell’area euro-me<strong>di</strong>terranea; la subsp. latina <strong>di</strong>fferisce dalla sottospecie nominale per le foglie cauline, più larghe, con margine ondulato e in genere concentrate in basso, tanto la lasciare lo scapo spoglio nella parte me<strong>di</strong>ana, brattee fiorali minori, colorazione più intensa dei fiori, epichilo più chiaro e gibbosità basali poco marcate. Questa seconda entità appare inoltre più termofila, adattata a boschi più asciutti, margini stradali e cespuglieti, anche in situazioni più aperte. La presenza <strong>della</strong> subsp. tremolsii invece è, a livello italiano, attualmente messa in <strong>di</strong>scussione (GIROS, 2009). Note <strong>di</strong>stributive Si tratta <strong>di</strong> una specie abbastanza comune nel territorio provinciale, sebbene i dati <strong>di</strong> copertura siano relativi a soli 23 quadrati su 52; si rinviene un po’ ovunque soprattut- to nella zona del Chianti, Montagnola Senese, Farma-Merse e sud <strong>della</strong> provincia; essendo specie nemorale è molto probabile che la sua <strong>di</strong>stribuzione nel territorio provinciale, come per altre entità tipiche dei boschi <strong>di</strong> latifoglie decidue, sia sottostimata a causa <strong>della</strong> colorazione poco appariscente. Le segnalazioni <strong>delle</strong> subsp. latina e tremolsii sono rispettivamente 4 e 1.
