Theory building is a central value in research. Where research has managed to add and create
new meaning and highlight the universal in the results, a successful theory is developed to
provide grants. The next step is to add the new knowledge to the existing theoretical
landscape. The theory model shows that longing in this study is associated with the core
concepts in caring science, human ethos, love and caritas, suffering and health. The results
offer a basic understanding of desire, or longing, as getting in touch with the inner source of
love and the deepest holiness in the source of love, longing connected to health and becoming,
and longing as connecting to the inner ground of spirit and transcendence.
