Herr Neudahm, welche Gestaltungstrends prägen derzeit
die Inneneinrichtung von Hotels?
Ein Trend, den ich derzeit beobachte, ist die Herstellung von Bezügen eines
Hotels zu dessen Lage sowie zu dessen Geschichte. Dies hat den Grund,
dass Hotelgäste zwar die Corporate Identity eines Kettenhotels sehen
und spüren, dennoch aber auch erkennen sollen, in welcher Stadt bzw. in
welchem Land sich das Hotel befindet und welche Geschichte das Gebäude
prägt. Möglich wird dies v. a. durch die gezielte Verwendung von Farben
und Accessoires. Ich verwende z. B. hauptsächlich Bilder oder Kunstdrucke
mit lokalen Motiven.
Ein weiterer Trend ist die Erzeugung von Atmosphäre durch
Beleuchtung, z. B. durch den Einsatz von LED-Lichtvouten. Durch die Verwendung
von LED-Licht können wir mittlerweile verschiedenste Lichtszenarien
erzeugen und auch steuern. Je nach Verwendung bestimmter
Farben entsteht so ein völlig neues Raumgefühl, das entsprechend der
Tageszeit oder für ein Event verändert werden kann.
Ein letzter Trend, den ich hier gerne anführen würde, ist die
zunehmende Verwendung von Hartbelegen wie Holz, Parkett oder PVC.
Dadurch wird zum einen ein Gefühl von Hochwertigkeit erzeugt und zum
anderen auch die Einhaltung hygienischer Standards erleichtert.
Der Hotelgast soll sich in seinem Zimmer fast wie zu Hause
fühlen, sagen Sie. Was ist wichtig, damit sich dieses Gefühl
einstellt?
Der erste Blick des Hotelgastes fällt immer auf das Bett. Deshalb ist es
wichtig, dass dieses besonders komfortabel, ansprechend und hochwertig
wirkt. Erreicht wird dies zum einen durch die Dekoration, sprich durch die

hat er als Partner der internationalen Hotellerie über 450 Projekte realisiert.
In recent years the interior design of hotels has become a driving force in the
setting of trends. Accessories, lighting arrangements and colours play a key role
in this. TOP FAIR spoke to designer Andreas Neudahm, managing partner of
Andreas Neudahm Hotel Interior Design. In partnership with a series of internatio-
nal hotels Andreas Neudahm has completed over 450 projects over the last 20 years.
Mr Neudahm, which design trends are currently shaping
the interior decors of hotels?
One trend that has recently come to my attention is that hotels have started
to see themselves more in terms of their location and its history. The
reason for this is that although hotel guests want to be able to recognise
the corporate identity of the hotel chain they also want to be aware of
where they are in the world and get a feel for the history of the building.
This can be done by effective use of colours and accessories. For instance,
I very often use pictures and prints of local scenes and themes.
Another trend is using special lighting techniques to create a
certain atmosphere, i.e. LED cove lighting. We can now use LED lighting to
create and control a huge range of different lighting scenarios. The use of
different colours can radically transform the feel of a room. Colours can be
changed depending on the time of day or for specific events.
Finally, I’d like to mention the increasing use of hard surface flooring
such as wood, parquet flooring or PVC. This creates a feeling of quality
and is also easier to keep clean.
You have said that hotel guests should feel at home in their
hotel rooms. What is it that makes them feel at home?
The first thing a hotel guest looks at when he enters the room is the bed.
That is why it is important that it looks superbly comfortable, attractive
and of high quality. This can be achieved by decorating it appropriately, i.e.
with cushions and an eye-catching bedspread, and by choosing high quality
bed linen with a soft satin-like feel which immediately creates a feeling of
wellbeing. In addition to all this, it is important that the colour scheme in
the room is coherent and harmonious. Everything in the hotel room should
