Im Courtyard by
their real material equivalents. We also use photos scanned onto textile
surfaces. This works very well on bedheads, for instance. It’s also an
effective way of giving each room its own individual character.
You design interiors in keeping with the corporate identity of
your clients, from the lighting arrangements and furniture to
the bed linen and tableware. How do you do this?
Firstly, I have to say that the corporate identity of a hotel chain is mainly
established by means of accessories and colours. For instance, a red vase
in a restaurant that otherwise has a fairly restrained colour scheme can
influence the interior design of the entire room – after all, the first thing
you notice is the vase. If you use a blue candle instead of a red one, the
atmosphere will change dramatically. So by using different accessories and
colours you can create a certain atmosphere in a room, i.e. make a hotel
come to life, in other words, give it its corporate “identity”.
At the Courtyard by Marriott in Bremen/Germany we used a lot of green,
which is also used in the company logo. Because the colour scheme of the
hotel is otherwise fairly restrained with earthy terracotta and cream tones,
the green is very striking. In this way the first thing that guests see when
they arrive at the hotel is the colour of the logo which is very much part of
the hotel’s corporate identity
