Des Weiteren ist es wichtig, dass die Farbwahl in einem Zimmer
stimmig und harmonisch ist. Das Hotelzimmer muss wie aus einem Guss
wirken, man darf nicht das Gefühl haben, dass bereits verschiedene
Designer ihre Hand im Spiel hatten. Ich selbst bevorzuge warme Erd- und
Indian-Summer-Töne. Sie erzeugen sofort ein Gefühl von Wärme und
Geborgenheit und damit auch ein Gefühl von „Heimat“. Gerade für
Geschäftsreisende ist es zudem wichtig, dass genug Arbeitsfläche zur
Verfügung steht und die Zimmer mit W-LAN ausgestattet sind. Um die
Arbeit noch angenehmer zu machen, setze ich auf bequeme Relaxed-Chairs.
Ein weiteres wichtiges Augenmerk liegt auf dem Badezimmer.
Damit sich der Gast rundum wohlfühlt, muss dieses zu seiner kleinen
privaten Wellnessoase werden. Das heißt, es müssen genügend Staumöglichkeiten
vorhanden sein, es muss hell und freundlich wirken und
hochwertige Bad-Armaturen besitzen. Nach Möglichkeit verwenden wir
zudem Erlebnisduschen, die einen entspannten Start in den Tag oder eine
erholsame Dusche am Abend ermöglichen. Bei einer Neuplanung versuche
ich zudem immer, das Bad offen zu gestalten und dem Gast somit einen
Blick nach draußen zu gewähren.
Welche Innovationen beeinflussen Ihre Arbeit besonders
stark?
Unter anderem Textilien. Heute ist mit Textilien fast alles möglich. Es gibt
Materialien, die aussehen wie Krokodilleder, andere wie Metallflächen und
wieder andere können mit eigenen Fotos bedruckt werden und so einen

blend into a unified whole. Guests shouldn’t get the feeling that different
people have had a hand in the design of the room. Personally, I prefer
earthy tones and the warm colours of Indian summer. They immediately
create a sense of comfort and well-being – with all the feel of a home
away from home.
Especially for business travellers it is important that there are
enough surfaces for them to work on and that the room is fitted with
W-LAN. To make their work more pleasant, I always try and make sure
that rooms also have relaxer chairs.
Special attention also needs to be paid to the bathroom. To make
sure that guests feel totally at ease, they should feel as though the bathroom
is their own private spa and bathing oasis. This means that, apart
from having enough cupboard space, bathrooms must look bright and
friendly and have high quality fittings. If possible, we try and install experience
showers which offer different shower experiences in one shower so
that guests can start the day with an invigorating shower and end it with a
more relaxing sensation. When we are planning new hotels I try to design
the bathroom so that it is as open as possible, so that guests might even
have a view of the room from the bathroom.
What innovations have influenced you most?
Textiles have certainly had a great influence on my work. Today almost
anything is possible with textiles. There are materials that look like
crocodile leather, others that look like metal surfaces, and others that
can be printed with photographs to give them your own personal touch.
