The lubric<strong>at</strong>ion of deep groove ball bearings, angular ball bearing as well as 4 point and flo<strong>at</strong>ing ball bearings has<br />
no special requirements on the addition of lubricants, since areas of sliding friction <strong>at</strong> the point of contact between<br />
rolling elements and raceways can almost be ruled out.<br />
In particular cases, e.g. with fast moving ball bearings, the minimum load must be noted in order to ensure troublefree<br />
rolling of the balls. The correct value for the minimum load is given as P min = 0.01 · C.<br />
Lubric<strong>at</strong>ion of cylindrical roller bearings<br />
Cylindrical roller bearings are finished in a rich selection of bearing designs. This is due to the fact th<strong>at</strong> cylindrical<br />
roller bearings can be used both as fixed bearings and flo<strong>at</strong>ing bearings. From the point of view of lubric<strong>at</strong>ion, the<br />
designs can be differenti<strong>at</strong>ed as being with or without cage.<br />
When using cylindrical roller bearings as flo<strong>at</strong>ing bearings (series N, NU), slide movements occur on the sideboards<br />
which come under defined load when used as fixed bearings (series NJ, NUP but also with angle rings). The so-called<br />
open sideboards ensure constant access and hydrodynamic load of the lubricant to be used.<br />
The admissible axial load of a cylindrical roller bearing may be calcul<strong>at</strong>ed as quoted in the KRW delivery programme.<br />
However, not only the possible hydrodynamic load must be calcul<strong>at</strong>ed, the board height of the cylindrical roller bearing<br />
must be taken into consider<strong>at</strong>ion and sufficiently supported.<br />
Cylindrical roller bearings also require a minimum load for efficient rolling of the rolling elements; this can be closely<br />
estim<strong>at</strong>ed with P min = 0.02 · C for all the roller bearings.<br />
Particularly for large roller bearings from the Kugel- und Rollenlagerwerk Leipzig GmbH range, sufficient additives<br />
for the lubricant used must be taken into consider<strong>at</strong>ion with a suitable viscosity r<strong>at</strong>io κ=υ/ υ/ υ/υ / υ1<br />
