Galloni 90 – 92 | The 2020 Lafleur-Gazin is a bruiser. Inky blackberry fruit, charcoal, game, licorice, spice and leather open first, followed by a blast of acid and tannin that states the wine’s assertive personality. There is good depth and substance, even if the tannins remain pretty burly. Suckling 92 – 93 | Such gorgeous aromas of blackberries, blueberries and crushed stones. Fresh flowers, too. Medium-bodied with fine tannins and a clean, round-textured finish. Galloni 92 – 94 | The 2020 Rouget is laced with lavish, inky fruit, cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice, cedar and tobacco. Rich, sumptuous and alluring, Rouget is all about immediacy. Plush and silky, with soft contours and exceptional balance, Rouget delivers the goods, and then some. The forward, lush style is hugely appealing. Martin 91 – 93 | The 2020 Rouget was tasted from two half-bottles. Deep in color, it has an intense bouquet of black currant, tobacco and truffle shavings and an increasingly pronounced undergrowth scent. Compared to recent vintages that I have found a bit trop, this is much more focused and controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins and well-judged acidity, touches of dark chocolate infusing the black fruit. This is well balanced and fresh and though there is some new oak to be assimilated toward the finish, this is very promising Rouget that deserves 4–6 years in bottle. Suckling 91 – 92 | 2020 CHÂTEAU BOURGNEUF Pomerol 61,20 €/Ltr. 45,90 € Galloni 92 – 94 | Martin 92 – 94 | Suckling 94 – 95 |Parker 91 – 93 extraprima 94 – 96| Das Château Bourgneuf steigert seit einigen Jahren kontinuierlich die Qualität seiner Weine. Galloni 92 – 94 | Bourgneuf has been on a roll for a number of vintages. The 2020 is another terrific showing from the Vayron family. A spine of fine tannins gives the 2020 its drive and overall sense of proportion. Black cherry, grilled herbs, menthol, licorice, chocolate and spice all open in the glass. The 2020 is a serious, rather somber Bourgneuf that is going to need at least a few years to be at its best. Tasted two times. Martin 92 – 94 | The 2020 Bourgneuf is a Pomerol château that has stepped up another level in recent vintages, and this latest release continues that trend. It has a quintessential Pomerol nose of black-truffle-infused black fruit, hints of orange blossom and light tertiary scents. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. A well-structured Bonalgue, yet with plenty of freshness and maybe the most precise finish that I have encountered from this estate. Chapeau to winemaker Frédérique Vayron; this is outstanding. Tasted twice with consistent notes. Suckling 94 – 95 | A dense, sexy red with blackberry, black-truffle and bark character with a full body, chewy tannins and loads of structure at the end. Lovely, ripe tannins. Fresh on the finish. Parker 91 – 93 | Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Bourgneuf sashays out of the glass with expressive notes of crushed black cherries, boysenberries and prunes, plus wafts of melted chocolate, Indian spices and cedar chest, with a hint of cardamom. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of spicy / peppery black fruit preserves, framed by ripe, rounded tannins and lovely freshness, finishing long and earthy. 121
