Sukho buddhānam uppādo,<br />

sukhā saddhamma-desanā;<br />

Sukhā saïghassa sāmaggī,<br />

Khattiyo seññho jane tasmiü<br />

Happy is the birth of Buddhas.<br />

Happy is the teaching of the sublime Dhamma.<br />

Happy is the unity of the Saïgha.<br />

Happy is the radiance of the united ones.<br />

The Khattiya's best among those<br />

who value clan;<br />

He with knowledge and conduct<br />

is best of gods and men.<br />

The sun is radiant by day;<br />

the moon shines by night.<br />

Armoured radiates the warrior king.<br />

Meditating the Brāhmaõa radiates.<br />

But all day and night<br />

the Buddha radiates in glory.<br />

Health is the highest gain.<br />

Contentment is the greatest wealth.<br />
