[59] Dukkha-ppattādi-gāthā or Devatā-uyyojana-gāthā 97 Verses on 'Having Got Suffering and so on'<br />
Dukkha-ppattā ca niddukkhā<br />
bhaya-ppattā ca nibbhayā<br />
soka-ppattā ca nissokā<br />
hontu sabbe pi pāõino.<br />
Ettāvatā ca amhehi<br />
sambhataü puñña-sampadaü<br />
sabbe devānumodantu<br />
sabba-sampatti-siddhiya<br />
dānaü dadantu saddhāya<br />
sīlaü rakkhantu sabbadā,<br />
bhāvanābhiratā hontu<br />
gacchantu devatā-gatā.<br />
Sabbe buddhā bala-ppattā<br />
paccekānañ ca yaü balaü,<br />
arahantānañ ca tejena<br />
rakkhaü bandhāmi sabbaso.<br />
Having got suffering, may they not suffer,<br />
having got fear, may they not suffer,<br />
having got grief, may they not grieve,<br />
(thus) all beings may they be.<br />
To the extent that by us<br />
puñña has been attained and collected,<br />
may all devas rejoice in (and share) it<br />
for the attainment of all fortune.<br />
By faith should gifts be given,<br />
virtue should always be protected,<br />
delightful should meditation be,<br />
(thus) go to the state of a devatā.<br />
By all Buddhas attained to power<br />
and the power of the Solitary Ones<br />
and by the might of the Arahants<br />
I bind (this thread) in every way for protection.
