application of stress tends to cause an initial large irreversible
shift in magnetisation towards the anhysteretic magnetisation, zero
in this case because there is no applied field. During subsequent
stress cycles there are smaller nearly reversible changes.
Remagnetisation produces a slightly greater magnetisation than from
the initial unmagnetised state and tends to reinitialise the stress
situation.
