ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA LIMITED FIFTH CANADIAN CONFERENCE ON NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING EDITOR C.A. KITTMER ABSTRACT The theme for the Fifth Canadian Conference on Nondestructive Testing was "NDT in Canada - The Next 20 years". The three day conference with 42 presentations provided a short overview of NDT in Canada, a look at NDT in pipeline, materials, offshore, nuclear and training applications, and a glimpse into the next 20 years with recent advances in research and development as related to this "hi-tech" field of work. The three keynote speakers, Andrew B. Mitchell (Canada), Harold Berger (U.S.A.) and Roy S. Sharpe (England), were united in their concern for increased dialogue between research and field application. This conference was one small step in the right direction.
