rom the above derivations, following observations can be made:<br />

1. The three sequence networks are independent.<br />

2. The neutral of the system is the reference for positive and negative sequence networks but<br />

ground is the reference for the zero sequence network.<br />

3. There is no voltage source in the negative or zero-sequence networks. Only the positive<br />

sequence network has a voltage source.<br />

4. The grounding impedance is reflected in the zero sequence network as 3Z n.<br />

9.7 SEQUENCE IMPEDANCES O TRANSORMERS<br />

In power transformers, the core losses and the magnetizing current are on the order of 1 percent<br />

of rated value and hence magnetizing branch is neglected. The transformer is modeled with
