12.20 DISCRETE INTEGRAL CONTROLLER OR AGC<br />

or ease operation and control, an interconnected power system is generally considered an<br />

amalgamation of a number of areas. Interconnectiors between contiguous areas are physically<br />

remote from the dispatch centre. It is a usual practice to sample system data, i.e., frequency and<br />

tie-line power, and transfer information over data links to the dispatch centre. These signals<br />

are updated every 2 sec, 4 secs, etc.<br />

igure 12.25 shows the power system and controller representation. As shown in ig. 12.25,<br />

the controller is in the discrete domain even though the power system is in the analogue or<br />
