Research. The student will find that Wats<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> Wyatt’s<br />
H<strong>and</strong>book for <strong>Ugaritic</strong> Studies[=HUS]—though too expensive for<br />
many impoverished students to buy—will be a good starting place<br />
for most areas of research into the <strong>Ugaritic</strong> language, literature,<br />
history <strong>and</strong> culture. The book, The City of Ugarit at Tell Ras<br />
Shamra (2006), by Marguerite Y<strong>on</strong>, provides a good overview of<br />
the site in its ancient Near Eastern c<strong>on</strong>text. Useful short summaries<br />
have been written by Y<strong>on</strong> in the Oxford Encyclopedia of the<br />
Ancient Near East <strong>and</strong> the Anchor Bible Dicti<strong>on</strong>ary.<br />
