P 8.13 Provision should be made for grade-separated crossings <strong>of</strong> the<br />
existing rail line at Barwon Heads Road, Torquay Road and the eastwest<br />
link road.<br />
P 8.14 All arterial roads should:<br />

be divided into dual carriageways where they are more than four lanes in<br />
width;<br />
have service roads to provide access to abutting properties, incorporating<br />
kerbside parking;<br />
have generous shared paths where there is adjoining development;<br />
have large trees along both nature strips and on any central median and<br />
outer separators (specified in accordance with road safety standards);<br />
be <strong>of</strong> minimum possible design speed and width; and<br />
avoid grade-separated road intersections unless absolutely necessary.<br />
P 8.15 All streets should be edged by development frontages or parks.<br />
P 8.16 The design <strong>of</strong> all streets and roads should meet the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />
Clause 56 <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Geelong</strong> Planning Scheme.<br />
