CODE BLUE MEDICAL TEAM • Proceed to the emergency location. • The Receiving Medical Registrar or most senior Medical Officer is to take charge and instruct Medical and Nursing staff as follows: • airway / ventilation care • cardiac massage • defibrillation • IV line insertion • drugs and infusions • Ensure audit form is completed and returned to the Bernadette Hickey - Care of Intensive Care Unit. • As necessary, arrange for the patient to be transported for specialist treatment. • Attend post incident debriefing. • Liaise with person in charge of the area re: staff counselling. • Ensure contact is made with next of kin. • Notify “Parent” Unit. 27/09/00 Page 10 of 14
