<strong>EMERGENCY</strong> CO-ORDINATOR – CODE YELLOW ALERT<br />
Respond Yellow<br />
If emergency cause has not been confirmed, just reported smell or odours.<br />
• There is no need to respond.<br />
<strong>EMERGENCY</strong> CO-ORDINATOR – CODE YELLOW ACTION<br />
Actions will depend on the type and severity <strong>of</strong> the disaster.<br />
• Respond to the Emergency Co-ordination Centre immediately.<br />
• Don tabard denoting position.<br />
• Ensure switchboard has notified emergency services (if required) and relevant<br />
St. Vincent's emergency response staff.<br />
• Maintain communication with the Area Warden & Deputy Emergency Coordinator<br />
and monitor developments.<br />
• Assess situation and confirm that all persons in danger have been moved to<br />
safety. ACTIVATE Respond Orange: evacuation <strong>of</strong> area as considered<br />
necessary, commencing horizontally and then vertically. If hazardous materials<br />
involved be aware <strong>of</strong> environmental factors such as wind, temperature, drainage.<br />
Seek expert advice promptly.<br />
• Liaise with Officer In Charge <strong>of</strong> responding combating authority via Deputy<br />
Emergency Co-ordinator and advise <strong>of</strong> status <strong>of</strong> emergency, any evacuations in<br />
progress and the location <strong>of</strong> the Emergency Co-ordination Centre (E C C).<br />
Request that an emergency serivces liaison <strong>of</strong>ficer attend at the E C C as soon<br />
as possible.<br />
• Recall/notify St. Vincent's security and senior 'on-call' staff as required. Arrange<br />
for the Emergency Executive to attend if considered necessary - (assistance with<br />
control, communications, evacuations and media).<br />
• Arrange for the immediate isolation <strong>of</strong> services as necessary.<br />
• Act as initial media liaison point.<br />
• Set up a patient query line to answer calls from the public as necessary. (Police<br />
Advice Line may also be useful – liaise with Senior Police Officer).<br />
• Maintain an incident register and provide a report to Risk Management on<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> incident.<br />
• Give 'All Clear' authorisation on termination <strong>of</strong> emergency.<br />
