CODE BLACK<br />
DEPUTY CO-ORDINATOR / SECURITY OFFICERS<br />
It is against Hospital policy for a lone Security Officer to attend the site <strong>of</strong> a Code Black<br />
incident without a second Security Officer as back-up.<br />
They shall follow the procedures as laid down in the Security Officers Training Manual<br />
(CF Part 6 - Aggression).<br />
• On notification <strong>of</strong> Code Black activate all Security staff on campus via two way radio.<br />
• Don tabard, identifying position.<br />
• Await arrival <strong>of</strong> Hospital Emergency Co-ordinator to take over Emergency Control<br />
Room responsibilities.<br />
• With second Security Officer, proceed to location <strong>of</strong> incident and await arrival <strong>of</strong><br />
Police.<br />
• Prior to arrival <strong>of</strong> Police, intervene and assist in the restraint <strong>of</strong> the <strong>of</strong>fenders only if:-<br />
Another member <strong>of</strong> staff is being assaulted or is in any way placed in<br />
danger <strong>of</strong> life and limb<br />
Requested by another staff member to render assistance to ensure well<br />
being <strong>of</strong> a staff member or patient, providing the request is within the<br />
Security Officers’ Guidelines<br />
• Liaise with Senior Police Officer on scene.<br />
• Maintain communication with Hospital Emergency Co-ordinator via two way radio<br />
• Maintain presence at location and assist Area Warden as necessary.<br />
• Advise Hospital Emergency Co-ordinator when “All Clear” given by Senior Police<br />
Officer.<br />
• Provide a report on the incident to the Risk Manager.<br />
