CODE GREY<br />
• Direct staff to prepare for the administration <strong>of</strong> any chemical restraint that is<br />
required. If necessary, co-ordinate the actions to physically restrain patient.<br />
• Advise switchboard <strong>of</strong> “All Clear” when the incident is resolved<br />
• Be alert for post incident stress in staff and patients and debrief as required<br />
• Arrange for any counseling necessary for patients or staff.<br />
• .Ensure appropriate and clearly identified documentation <strong>of</strong> incident exists in<br />
the Unit Record<br />
• Attach appropriate Grey sticker to the Alert page <strong>of</strong> the Unit Record and date<br />
and sign beside same<br />
• Liaise with Security Officer to ensure report on code response is complete and<br />
accurate<br />
• As necessary, arrange for appropriate personnel to repair damage and make area<br />
safe for patients and staff:<br />
The Emergency Response Co-ordinator is responsible for the management <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Team attempting to contain the violent episode, but shall defer to the Emergency<br />
Response Medical Officer with regard to the clinical management <strong>of</strong> the patient.<br />
