Internal<br />
• A second level <strong>of</strong> decontamination is only necessary in exceptional circumstances, eg.<br />
internal radioactive contamination, chemical <strong>of</strong>f-gassing or a biological hazard.<br />
• The Resuscitation Cubicles in the ECC will be utilised in this situation, the “Control<br />
Area.”<br />
• Air conditioning should be redirected to prevent contamination <strong>of</strong> other areas.<br />
• Unnecessary equipment and furniture should be removed from the Control Area prior<br />
to any anticipated patient arrival.<br />
• Plastic sheeting should be laid out on the floor and absorbent pads (e.g. ‘blueys’) laid<br />
over this.<br />
• Wet Plastic Bags may be suitable for the temporary storage <strong>of</strong> clothing and soiled<br />
linen and materials.<br />
• The corridor and control area should be taped-<strong>of</strong>f at waist height to help isolate “hot”<br />
(dirty) from “cold” (clean) zones.<br />
