DEPUTY <strong>EMERGENCY</strong> CO-ORDINATOR<br />

CODE RED ALERT<br />

If fire / smoke have not been confirmed.<br />

• On notification <strong>of</strong> Code Red Alert, proceed to main entrance <strong>of</strong> affected building,<br />

arrange for a staff member to await the arrival <strong>of</strong> emergency service personnel to<br />

provide directions (if required);<br />

• Don tabard (vest) identifying position,<br />

• Investigate the cause <strong>of</strong> any burning / smoke smell.<br />

• Advise Emergency Co-ordination Centre/Switchboard when all clear to be given.<br />

• Provide a report on the incident to the Risk Management.<br />

CODE RED ACTION<br />

If fire / smoke have been confirmed.<br />

• On notification <strong>of</strong> Code Red Action, proceed to main entrance <strong>of</strong> affected<br />

building, arrange for a staff member to await the arrival <strong>of</strong> emergency service<br />

personnel (if attending) to provide directions;<br />

• Don tabard (vest) identifying position,<br />

• Identify point <strong>of</strong> alarm operation from fire alarm panel if possible.<br />

• Proceed to scene and take charge;<br />

• Maintain communication with Emergency Co-ordination Centre by radio or WIP,<br />

and update on arrival and as events unfold or every 15 minutes.<br />

• Liaise with Senior Fire Officer on scene, advise <strong>of</strong> potential hazards and guide to<br />

location by most direct route.<br />

• Remain at fire location (in a safe position) to liaise with Senior Fire Officer and<br />

assist Area Warden with tasks.<br />

• Liaise with Emergency Co-ordinator regarding status<br />

• Advise Emergency Co-ordination Centre to be give ALL CLEAR.<br />

• Arrange immediate replacement/rectification <strong>of</strong> used installed equipment and<br />

reset alarms.<br />

• Provide a report on the incident to the Risk Management.<br />
