Respond Yellow<br />

SWITCHBOARD CODE YELLOW ALERT<br />

• Repeat/confirm incident details back to caller to verify receipt.<br />

• If hazardous materials involved, notify Metropolitan Fire And Emergency<br />

Services Board <strong>of</strong> emergency call via 000 stating St Vincent's Hospital, location<br />

<strong>of</strong> call and any other pertinent information.<br />

• Alert Emergency Co-ordinator, Deputy Co-ordinator and Emergency Response<br />

Team via pager/radio/mobile phone.<br />

If emergency cause has not been confirmed, just reported smell or odours.<br />

• Announce on PA system 'Respond Code, Yellow Alert’ and location' (twice).<br />

”ATTENTION ALL STAFF - RESPOND YELLOW ALERT<br />

and EXACT LOCATION OF INCIDENT.”<br />

Announce 2 times.<br />

• Maintain lines for emergency communication.<br />

• Await further instructions from Area Warden.<br />

SWITCHBOARD - CODE YELLOW ACTION<br />

If emergency is confirmed – includes gas leak, utilities failure, explosion, or<br />

person(s) trapped in lift.<br />

”ATTENTION ALL STAFF - RESPOND RED ACTION”<br />

and EXACT LOCATION OF INCIDENT.”<br />

Announce 2 times.<br />

• Maintain lines for emergency communication.<br />

• Await further instructions from Emergency Co-ordinator.<br />
