CODE GREY<br />
STAFF IN THE AREA OF THE INCIDENT<br />
• Support staff subjected to violence.<br />
• Ensure switchboard has been notified <strong>of</strong> Code Grey.<br />
• Assist in attempts to defuse violent situation by appropriate use <strong>of</strong> interpersonal<br />
skills.<br />
• Organise the “making safe” <strong>of</strong> area for other patients and staff.<br />
• Have patient’s unit record and treatment sheet in readiness for Response Team<br />
Co-ordinator and/or Designated Medical Officer. If the unit record is not in the<br />
department, provide all available information and arrange for urgent delivery <strong>of</strong><br />
the unit record.<br />
• To follow any instructions given by the Code Grey Response Co-ordinator.<br />
• If not otherwise required, continue with normal duties.<br />
