CODE GREY<br />
<strong>EMERGENCY</strong> RESPONSE SSA’s<br />
As per roster.<br />
• Immediately proceed to stated location.<br />
• Report to Emergency Response Co-ordinator upon arrival at the incident<br />
location.<br />
• Ensure that Occupational <strong>Health</strong> & Safety issues have been addressed, ie.<br />
gloves & goggles in situ as indicated<br />
• Avoid approaching patient until directed by the Emergency Response Coordinator,<br />
except in Exceptional Circumstances.<br />
Exceptional Circumstances:<br />
If there is a definite risk to life, or <strong>of</strong> serious injury occurring, only then, in<br />
order to discharge duty <strong>of</strong> care, should staff attempt immediate physical<br />
intervention prior to the arrival <strong>of</strong> the full Emergency Response Team.<br />
• Take direction from the Emergency Response Co-ordinator with regard to:<br />
• Making the area safe<br />
• Relocating patients and others as necessary.<br />
• Assisting in restraining patient in accordance with Hospital Policy.<br />
• Participate in post incident debriefing as indicated<br />
• At completion <strong>of</strong> the debriefing following the incident, return to normal duties.<br />
