1.17 INJURY & ILLNESS PREVENTION PROGRAM (IIPP)<br />

Contractor shall be required to comply with <strong>the</strong> State of Cali<strong>for</strong>nia’s<br />

Cal OSHA regulations Section 3203 of Title 8 in <strong>the</strong> Cali<strong>for</strong>nia Code of<br />

Regulations which requires all Cali<strong>for</strong>nia employers to have a written,<br />

effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) that addresses<br />

hazards pertaining to <strong>the</strong> particular workplace covered by <strong>the</strong> program.<br />

1.18 BACKGROUND AND SECURITY INVESTIGATIONS<br />

Background and security investigations of Contractor’s staff shall be<br />

required at <strong>the</strong> discretion of <strong>the</strong> County as a condition of beginning and<br />

continuing work under any resulting contract. The cost of background<br />

checks is <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> Contractor.<br />

Disqualification of any Contractor personnel due to a background check<br />

shall not relieve Contractor of its obligation to complete all work in<br />

accordance with <strong>the</strong> terms and conditions of this contract.<br />

1.19 CONFIDENTIALITY AND INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR STATUS<br />

As appropriate, Contractor shall be required to comply with <strong>the</strong><br />

Confidentiality provision contained in Subsection 7.5 Appendix A, and <strong>the</strong><br />

Independent Contractor status provision contained in Subsection 8.21<br />

Appendix A, Sample Contract.<br />

1.20 CONFLICT OF INTEREST<br />

No County employee whose position in <strong>the</strong> County enables him/her to<br />

influence <strong>the</strong> selection of a Contractor <strong>for</strong> this <strong>RFP</strong>, or any competing<br />

<strong>RFP</strong>, nor any spouse or economic dependent of such employees, shall be<br />

employed in any capacity by a Proposer or have any o<strong>the</strong>r direct or<br />

indirect financial interest in <strong>the</strong> selection of a Contractor. Proposer shall<br />

certify that it is aware of and has read Section 2.180.010 of <strong>the</strong><br />

Los Angeles County Code, as stated in Certification of No Conflict of<br />

Interest, in Appendix D, Required Forms, Exhibit 5.<br />

1.21 DETERMINATION OF PROPOSER RESPONSIBILITY<br />

1.21.1 A responsible Proposer is a Proposer who has demonstrated <strong>the</strong><br />

attribute of trustworthiness, as well as quality, fitness, capacity,<br />

and experience to satisfactorily per<strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> contract. It is <strong>the</strong><br />

County’s policy to conduct business only with responsible<br />

Proposers.<br />
