last Realist article contained a great deal of
put-on.
Well, I warned you this book was a Head
Test, didn't I?
Actually, there really was a convention of
married Catholic priests in Ariccia in August
1985, but I wasn't there; I was on a lecture tour
in the midwestern United States at the time.
The previous article is the same kind of fiction
you find in most of my novels—that is, my
imagination runs wild but it also runs along the
tracks of historical records. Almost everything
in the piece you have just read is based on
something real, even if I have given it my own
surreal flavor.
