Findings from Care Worker Sample<br />
Time 1<br />
<strong>The</strong> majority <strong>of</strong> items identified as caring (13) relate to technical and intimacy aspects<br />
<strong>of</strong> caring. <strong>The</strong> majority (8) <strong>of</strong> the 13 items are related to technical aspects <strong>of</strong> caring.<br />
A further 6 technical items failed to be considered as caring by the participants.<br />
<strong>The</strong>se are marked with an * in Table 4.9.<br />
<strong>In</strong>timacy aspects <strong>of</strong> care such as “listening to a patient” or “sitting with a patient” are<br />
included in the ranking and comprise the 3 highest ranked items. A total <strong>of</strong> 5 <strong>of</strong> a<br />
possible 10 items were identified as caring with 5 items failing to be considered<br />
caring. <strong>The</strong>se included ‘being honest with a patient’ and ‘exploring the patient’s<br />
lifestyle’ (See * in Table 4.9).<br />
