placement and design of the HMS antenna system. It can be assumed that for<br />

Space Test Program missions that the STPSS antenna can be used on the HHS.<br />

bBecause of differences <strong>in</strong> upl<strong>in</strong>k frequencies, the STDN transponder cannot<br />

be used for SGLS. Reference I shows a receiver and transmitter rather than an<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegrated transponder; however, these could be comb<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>to an SGLS transponder.<br />

c<strong>The</strong> modulation differences necessitate replac<strong>in</strong>g the PSK demodulator with<br />

an SGLS signal conditioner, which <strong>in</strong>cludes an FSK demodulator.<br />

dSTPSS system requirements do not <strong>in</strong>clude a secure upl<strong>in</strong>k. However, if a<br />

secure upl<strong>in</strong>k is to be considered, it is then necessary to add a decrypter
