4.2.4 GSFC is responsible for generat<strong>in</strong>g, ref<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g all<br />

design documentation perta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g to the SMMS systems.<br />

STP will<br />

have direct access to contractor documentation.<br />

4.2.5 <strong>NASA</strong> will notify STP for all SMMS system level reviews and important<br />

subsystem design meet<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

4.2.6 STP will be responsible for ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g the currency of STP requirements<br />

as related to the SM4S systems.<br />

4.3 STP ACCEPT)ANCE POLICIES FOR SMMS SYSTEMS<br />

4.3.1 STP is the DOD authority for the acceptance of any SM4S system.<br />

4.3.2 Specific conditions for acceptance will be established by GSFC for<br />

each SM 4S system. <strong>The</strong> general criteria guidel<strong>in</strong>es for acceptance<br />

of SMMS systems <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />

4.3.2.1 conformance with system requirements,<br />

4.3.2.2 conformance with approved acceptance test procedures,<br />

4.3.2.3 subsystems operat<strong>in</strong>g histories, and<br />

4.3.2.4 component qualification status.<br />

Software acceptance is conditional on planned verification test cases<br />

and Jo<strong>in</strong>t GSFC and STP validation requirements.<br />

4.3.3 After STP acceptance of an SMl4S system, STP and its mission contractor<br />

will assumie primary responsibility for the hardware and the mission<br />

<strong>in</strong>tegration and checkout activities.<br />

4. 3.4 After STP acceptance of SMMS systems, <strong>NASA</strong> will reta<strong>in</strong> responsibility<br />

and f<strong>in</strong>ancial liability for <strong>in</strong>sur<strong>in</strong>; these systems are compatible<br />

with the FTS.<br />
