operations center (TOC) was equally <strong>in</strong>volved with the<br />

brigade and battalion headquarters <strong>in</strong> plann<strong>in</strong>g fire support<br />

for all operations.<br />

I placed each FA cannon battery under operational<br />

control of maneuver units for movement and Combat<br />

Service Support. I had no choice. Given the limited road<br />

network and terra<strong>in</strong>, I could not physically provide timely<br />

and adequate logistic support to my force. Instead, I<br />

reta<strong>in</strong>ed C 2 and <strong>in</strong>tegrated my logistics fleet with the<br />

maneuver battalions to provide a complementary effort.<br />

Throughout the brigade sector, logistics tra<strong>in</strong>s rout<strong>in</strong>ely<br />

consisted of assets from each battalion support<strong>in</strong>g all units.<br />

Equipment ma<strong>in</strong>tenance rema<strong>in</strong>ed my responsibility<br />

(nobody wanted to help me on this one), and my battalion<br />

ma<strong>in</strong>tenance teams were on the road cont<strong>in</strong>uously for parts<br />

or repair work.<br />

TF 4-29 stationed units <strong>in</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g maneuver<br />

brigade/battalion lodgment areas (LA) located <strong>in</strong> the<br />

southeastern sector of the 1st Armored Division AOR (see<br />

map, Figure 7):<br />
