INTRODUCTION:<br />
My name is _______________________ and my colleagues<br />
and I are gathering information on orphans and<br />
vulnerable children on behalf <strong>of</strong> FHI and SCOPE. We<br />
would like to find out from you various things about the<br />
lives <strong>of</strong> orphans and vulnerable children as well as their<br />
parents/guardians. The information you give us will help<br />
FHI and SCOPE plan for activities that improve the lives<br />
<strong>of</strong> orphans and vulnerable children and their caregivers.<br />
Methodology<br />
A reporter who will also be a psychosocial support person<br />
will take notes on the discussion. The discussion will<br />
also be tape-recorded by audiocassette.<br />
1. How long have you been heads <strong>of</strong> household?<br />
2. What changes have you experienced in your lives since<br />
you became heads <strong>of</strong> households?<br />
3. What makes you happy about being heads <strong>of</strong> household?<br />
4. How do you organize the roles within the household?<br />
• How are duties allocated? How well is this working?<br />
• How do your siblings help you with running the<br />
home?<br />
• Who else do you receive assistance from?<br />
• What are you proud <strong>of</strong> in terms <strong>of</strong> how you run your<br />
household?<br />
5. What is the hardest part <strong>of</strong> being a head <strong>of</strong> household?<br />

• Getting the compliance <strong>of</strong> the younger children?<br />
