Surveys the major topics <strong>and</strong> issues in memory <strong>and</strong> higher<br />

order cognitive processes. Includes coverage <strong>of</strong> fundamental<br />

theoretical <strong>and</strong> empirical work in memory, concept learning,<br />

problem solving <strong>and</strong> language. {Every other Fall}<br />

<strong>and</strong> other relevant pr<strong>of</strong>essional services under intensive <strong>and</strong><br />

direct pr<strong>of</strong>essional supervision.<br />

In-depth coverage <strong>of</strong> recent studies concerned with the<br />

theoretical <strong>and</strong> applied issues around the topics <strong>of</strong> memory<br />

structures <strong>and</strong> processes, forgetting, mnemonics, imagery,<br />

prospective vs. retrospective remembering <strong>and</strong> individual<br />

differences in memory.<br />

Study <strong>of</strong> the methods organisms use to gain information about<br />

objects. The sensory processes are discussed as a basis for<br />

description <strong>of</strong> more complex perceptual phenomena.<br />

566. Psychology <strong>of</strong> Bilingualism. (3)<br />

(Also <strong>of</strong>fered as LING 566.) Examination <strong>of</strong> psycholinguistic<br />

research relating to adult <strong>and</strong> childhood bilingualism. Topics<br />

include: bilingual memory <strong>and</strong> lexical representation, language<br />

separation <strong>and</strong> interaction in production, code switching<br />

<strong>and</strong> mixing, neurolinguistics, childhood bilingualism.<br />

outcome research <strong>and</strong> basics <strong>of</strong> program evaluation.<br />

635. Child Assessment Practicum. (1-3 to a maximum<br />

Supervised experience conducting psychological evaluations<br />

<strong>of</strong> children <strong>and</strong> adolescents in clinical settings. Both test<br />

administration <strong>and</strong> report writing will be emphasized.<br />
