It is the responsibility of the employee to read the Exposure Control Program for the College Station<br />
Fire Department.<br />
It is the responsibility of the employee to notify the receiving hospital if he/she has been exposed to a<br />
patient who was transported to that facility.<br />
a. The "Report of Possible Exposure of Transporter" form is to be completed by the<br />
employee if there has been an exposure to a patient as listed below:<br />
(1) Exposure by examination of the throat, intubation, suctioning, or mouth-tomouth<br />
resuscitation;<br />
(2) Exposure by needlestick or other penetrating puncture of the skin with a<br />
needle or other item; or<br />
(3) Either a splatter of aerosol into the eye, nose, or mouth of any significant<br />
contamination of an open wound or non-intact skin with blood or body fluid.<br />
b. The employee is responsible for leaving the completed form in the Emergency<br />
Department in the designated location.<br />
It is the responsibility of the employee to complete a Supervisor Report of Injury form within 72 hours of the<br />
exposure. The form will be forwarded to the Infection Control Officer.<br />
