PROCEDURES cont.<br />

• Any PPE that is damaged should be immediately reported to the Shift Officer. This<br />

information should then be e-mailed to the "C" Shift Lt. at Station 4.<br />

In emergency situations, the Battalion Chief should replace damaged or contaminated<br />

PPE from the storage room at Fire Administration. Small PPE items can be replaced<br />

from Battalion Chief's storage with all information forwarded to Station 4 "C" Shift Lt.<br />

and the Research & Planning Coordinator.<br />

• Station 4 Lt. will repair helmets if problem is identified.<br />

• Station 4 Lt. will make recommendation to Research & Planning Coordinator for PPE repairs or<br />

replacement.<br />

• After recommendation is made, Research & Planning Coordinator will contact the employee's officer to<br />

set a meeting with the employee to verify size(s) needed and/or issue temporary replacement PPE.<br />

NOTE!! Any PPE being sent for repairs will be washed and dried prior to being sent out (employee’s<br />

responsibility.)<br />

• Research & Planning Coordinator will then order new PPE or send PPE out for repairs. If ordering new<br />

equipment, Research & Planning Coordinator will request inventory number(s) from inventory<br />

coordinator.<br />

• When new or repaired PPE arrives, Research & Planning Coordinator will inventory the equipment (if<br />

new) and then contact the respective employee and issue PPE.<br />

• Issued replacement PPE will be washed, dried, and re-hung in storage room.<br />
