Male Uniformed Personnel:<br />
Hair shall be neat, well trimmed and appropriately groomed at all times. Exceptions<br />
will occur at emergency scenes and while riding open cab apparatus.<br />
Hair, when combed, shall not present a ragged or unkept appearance. In no case shall<br />
the bulk of hair interfere with the wearing of SCBA, helmet, or protective hood.<br />
Hair shall not cover more than three-fourths (¾) of the ear.<br />
Hair shall not extend below the bottom edge of the uniform collar at the back of the neck<br />
when standing.<br />
Hair shall not be dyed an unusual or unnatural color.<br />
Hair shall not be worn in an extreme or fad style such as a mohawk, ducktail, braids, or<br />
in a way that exceeds length <strong>standard</strong>s.<br />
Female Uniformed Personnel:<br />
Female personnel shall conform to the same grooming requirements as male personnel.<br />
Hair shall not exceed in length on all sides below an imaginary line drawn parallel<br />
across the bottom of the shoulder blades.<br />
Items used by female personnel to hold the hair in place shall be concealed as much as<br />
possible and shall be of a color and style that blends with the hair. Decorative items<br />
such as combs and ribbons will not be worn in the hair.<br />
Fingernails shall be neat and clean and not extend beyond the tips of the fingers. If nail polish is<br />
worn is shall be clear and without pigment.<br />
Female personnel may be permitted to wear cosmetics of conservative color and amount<br />
consistent with good taste.<br />
Earrings shall not be worn while on duty.<br />
Neck chains may be worn but must remain concealed from view beneath the uniform shirt.<br />
Watches, rings, and bracelets may be worn if they are snug fitting and do not compromise the<br />
safety of the individual. Consideration shall be given to the wearing of gloves to protect the<br />
hands and fingers while performing any type of work with any type of power tools or other<br />
devices that jewelry may "hang" on.<br />
