2. Department Mandated Training Programs continued<br />

Courses required for specialty teams (three USAR members), Hazardous materials Operations<br />

level all personnel<br />

Truck company operations and rescue<br />

Vehicle extrication training<br />

RIC and lost and down <strong>fire</strong>fighter<br />

3. Company Officer Training:<br />

Fire Officer Development courses that are required for National Standards certification, Tactical<br />

Operations Courses, City Supervisory courses, and Emergency Management courses.<br />

4. Other requested courses:<br />

Tuition:<br />

1. Based on the above criteria the Training Coordinator, and Battalion<br />

Chiefs will determine if the <strong>department</strong> will pay for the training costs.<br />

Hotel and meals:<br />

1. The <strong>department</strong> will pay for hotel and meal related cost associated with mandated<br />

training or classes.<br />

2. The <strong>department</strong> may, in certain circumstances and upon the recommendation of the Battalion<br />

Chiefs, and the Training Coordinator, pay for hotel and meal cost associated with non-mandatory<br />

training or classes. (Example: The <strong>department</strong> sends an individual to a class that will be taught to<br />

all personnel.)<br />

Training request forms:<br />

1. Training request forms will be filled out and submitted through the normal<br />

channels.<br />

2. Training request forms shall briefly explain how this training ties in to <strong>department</strong><br />

Training priorities.<br />

3. To insure consistency, training request forms will be reviewed and evaluated by the<br />

Battalion Chiefs and Training Coordinator monthly. Personnel will be notified within seventy-two<br />

(72) hours of the Batt. Chief meeting as to the status of their training request.<br />

4. From time to time personnel will be notified of available training opportunities<br />

without having the lead-time to wait for a Battalion Chief meeting. In such<br />

instances the Training Coordinator, and a minimum of two Battalion<br />

Chiefs must review and approve/disapprove the training request.<br />
