To provide basic operational guidelines to ensure proper use of sprinkler and standpipe systems.<br />
FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONSE:<br />
The communications center shall dispatch units according to established written unit response <strong>procedure</strong>s.<br />
UNIT RESPONSIBILITIES:<br />
First arriving engine company shall:<br />
1) Proceed to the front of the structure.<br />
2) The officer shall establish command, give size up report and initiate required action.<br />
Second arriving engine company shall:<br />
1) Proceed to the water supply closest to the F.D. system connection.<br />
2) Report to command the absence or presence of water flow from the system if able.<br />
3) When directed, proceed to the connection laying a 5” line from water supply.<br />
4) Supply system as needed or instructed using a minimum of 2- 3” lines.<br />
5) Supply Sprinkler & Combination systems initially @ 150 PSI.<br />
6) Supply Standpipe systems @ 150 PSI + 5 PSI per floor until advised differently by officer<br />
or calculated based on actual <strong>fire</strong> flows obtained. Dry systems shall be charged before any<br />
<strong>fire</strong>fighting operations begin.<br />
All subsequent units shall:<br />
1) Position and/or stage apparatus as directed by policy or command.<br />
NOTE! C.S.F.D.’s Quint shall not be used for water supply unless approved by the Incident<br />
Commander.<br />
