Testing Requirements<br />
The College Station Fire Department Professional Development Guide outlines for the employee the steps<br />
necessary for progression through the rank structure of the <strong>department</strong>. Requirements which must be met<br />
by each employee in order to be eligible for promotional testing are outlined.<br />
Required Testing<br />
The goal of the <strong>fire</strong> <strong>department</strong> is to provide the high quality, professional service to the citizens of College<br />
Station. To accomplish this goal, testing of employee performance levels is mandatory.<br />
In order to maintain employment with the College Station Fire Department, all employees must successfully<br />
fulfill the testing requirements, as stated in the Professional Development Guide, for the following positions:<br />
Firefighter Second Class<br />
On or about their anniversary date, each eligible Firefighter Probationary will have one opportunity to<br />
successfully complete the testing requirements for Firefighter Second Class. Failure to do so will make the<br />
employee subject to dismissal from the <strong>department</strong>.<br />
On or about their anniversary date, a Firefighter First Class examination will be administered to each eligible<br />
Firefighter Non Probationary. Those failing to successfully complete the testing requirements will be able to<br />
retest annually for the position of Fire Fighter First Class. The position of Fire Fighter First Class is not<br />
mandatory for continued employment.<br />
