RESPONSE PROCEDURE<br />
Aircraft Emergencies<br />
• The ARFF vehicle will respond to emergencies within the jurisdictional bounds of Easterwood<br />
airport. Emergencies outside the perimeter of the airport shall be handled by the<br />
jurisdiction having responsibility.<br />
• Upon notification of an aircraft emergency the ARFF vehicle will respond to the designated standby<br />
position that is best suited for the type of emergency reported. At a minimum all responses by the<br />
ARFF vehicle shall be made to the standby position AB. (see attached map)<br />
• The vehicle operator shall ensure that dispatch is aware of the emergency and all subsequent<br />
information and that a run number has been generated. The vehicle operator must advise<br />
dispatch to upgrade Alert 1 calls to Alert II if the aircraft involved is a commercial air<br />
carrier.<br />
• The vehicle operator shall advise dispatch and other units (if applicable) of size up and command<br />
status.<br />
• The 1 st arriving engine and 711 shall proceed onto the airport and make contact with ARFF vehicle<br />
operator and Airfield control personnel for additional information. All other responding 1 st alarm<br />
units for Alerts I and II emergencies shall standby at the entrance to the airport (Station 4's ramp)<br />
and await instructions.<br />
• For all Alert III emergencies all 1 st alarm units shall proceed directly to the incident site unless<br />
instructed otherwise.<br />
NOTE! All units must make sure they have clearance to access any airport movement area.<br />
All Other Emergencies -<br />
• Upon notification of any emergency other than an aircraft the ARFF unit will respond as an<br />
investigating unit.<br />
• The ARFF operator will ensure that dispatch is notified and that other appropriate units are<br />
responding.<br />
• The ARFF operator will report all findings to the first arriving officer and transfer command.<br />
• The ARFF unit will be placed back in service for response to aircraft emergencies.<br />
• The emergency will then be handled by other responding units as per <strong>standard</strong> <strong>procedure</strong>s.<br />
Fuel Spills -<br />
• Upon notification of a fuel or other hazardous materials spill the ARFF unit will<br />
respond to mitigate the hazard.<br />
• The ARFF operator will ensure that dispatch is advised of the response and all subsequent<br />
information and that a run number is generated.<br />
• The ARFF operator will mitigate the hazard using <strong>standard</strong> <strong>procedure</strong>s and if necessary shall<br />
contact the TAMU Environmental Health and Safety office for assistance with spill control and<br />
cleanup.<br />
