SUBJECT: Disciplinary Procedures SOP: 200.2.10<br />

1. The Station Officer will investigate the following; who was involved, witnesses involved, circumstances<br />

surrounding the incident, when it happened, and how the situation can be avoided in the future.<br />

2. The Station Officer will complete the Record of Employee Performance Conference (suspension or<br />

reclassification) form, counseling the employee concerning the problem or unacceptable behavior. The<br />

officer will give suggestions for improvement, explaining the actions that will be taken, future<br />

consequences, and the employee's right of appeal. This record shall be signed by both the employee and<br />

supervisor.<br />

3. The employee will receive written notification of suspension from the Battalion Chief, and be relieved of<br />

duty pending the results of an investigation.<br />

4. Documentation and notification will be sent to the Assistant Fire Chief.<br />

5. The Assistant Fire Chief will direct the investigation as outlined in "The City of College Station Policy<br />

and Procedure Manual, Disciplinary and Termination Policy", approved by city council.<br />

E. EMPLOYEE TERMINATION: Termination may be recommended in situations when previous<br />

disciplinary action has not corrected the undesirable behavior. The Station Officer will submit written<br />

documentation and termination recommendation to the Battalion Chief. The Battalion Chief will review the<br />

written documentation and termination recommendation with the Assistant Fire Chief.<br />

1. The Asst. Chief and Battalion Chief will meet with employee. (pre-termination meeting to advise<br />

employee you are considering termination and the action is being referred to the Fire Chief.)<br />

2. A hearing for the employee will be scheduled with the Fire Chief. The Assistant Fire Chief will arrange the<br />

hearing date and time.<br />

3. The employee may appeal the decision of the Department Head within five working days to the<br />

Termination Review Board as outlined in "The City of College Station Policy and Procedures Manual,<br />

Disciplinary and Termination Policy", approved by city council.<br />

4. It is the responsibility of the terminating <strong>department</strong> to insure that all city property has been turned in<br />

prior to submitting exit checklist to the Personnel Office.<br />
