This policy is written to outline the various maintenance <strong>procedure</strong>s for the ARFF vehicles to insure<br />

operational readiness. Procedures include:<br />

1) Daily/Weekly Apparatus check<br />

2) Reporting Discrepancies and maintenance problems<br />

3) Scheduled /Unscheduled maintenance<br />

4) Fueling vehicles and equipment<br />

5) Discharging Firefighting Agents<br />

6) Agent Recharge<br />

1) Daily Apparatus Check<br />

• It will be the responsibility of the Assigned ARFF vehicle operator to check both vehicles each<br />

day at the start of their shift.<br />

• Daily check of each apparatus shall be performed as outlined on vehicle daily check sheets<br />

located in each vehicle.<br />

• All items on the check sheet shall be completed.<br />

• Each Thursday, the ARFF vehicles shall be inventoried and the compartments cleaned.<br />

• Each Saturday, the reserve ARFF vehicle (P-19) shall be driven.<br />

• Each Sunday, water shall be flowed from both the roof turret and the bumper turret of both<br />

ARFF vehicles and their water tanks refilled.<br />

2) Reporting Discrepancies and maintenance problems<br />

• All deficiencies shall be noted in the discrepancy log book located in the <strong>fire</strong> <strong>station</strong>.<br />

• Any deficiencies that render the ARFF vehicle out of service shall be reported to the <strong>station</strong><br />

officer immediately. The <strong>station</strong> officer shall insure the reserve unit is placed in service and that<br />

the problem is reported to the TAMU Airport Liaison or Assistant Director of Operations @<br />

845-4811.<br />

• Any discrepancies concerning equipment inventory shall be reported via E-mail to "C" shift's<br />

<strong>station</strong> 1's Lieutenant and the Battalion Chief's.<br />
