2.13. SUBSIDY TO PRIVATE SECTOR INVESTMENT<br />
As part of the subsidy policy of increasing the private sector investment in the tourism industry, Department<br />
of <strong>Tourism</strong> gives 10% subsidy of the capital investment as investment subsidy. Electricity tarrif subsidy is<br />
also given to eligible units.<br />
Subsidy is given to the following:<br />
1. Classified Hotels<br />
2. Motels<br />
3. Approved Restaurants<br />
4. Amusement Parks<br />
5. Recreation Clubs approved by Department of <strong>Tourism</strong><br />
6. Ropeways at <strong>Tourism</strong> Destinations<br />
7. For the purchase of Luxury cars, Coaches, Boats and Aircrafts for the Approved Tour Operators.<br />
8. For teaching traditional artforms of <strong>Kerala</strong>, Kalarippayattu etc. and for the construction of<br />
Auditorium and Koothambalam to schools and other institutions.<br />
9. For the institutions teaching tourism-related activities such as Gliding, Trekking, Surfing etc.<br />
10. <strong>Tourism</strong> oriented Ayurvedic centres.<br />
11. For the construction of traditional Chundan Vallam, Kettuvallam, House Boats etc.<br />
12. For the Handicrafts Emporium approved by State and Central Governments.<br />
13. For the maintanance of ancient and traditional houses under Grihasthali Scheme.<br />
14. Vazhiyoram Project.<br />
15. Farm <strong>Tourism</strong>.<br />
During the year 2007-2008, Department of <strong>Tourism</strong> released an amount of Rs.1,49,12,486.00 as electricity<br />
subsidy to facilitate the private sector in the <strong>Tourism</strong> Industry.<br />
