Installers and System Administrators<br />

Service Technicians install, upgrade, and maintain the Stratagy ES system. System Administrators’<br />

functions vary by company.<br />

Installer<br />

This manual is designed for a certified technician who has successfully completed Stratagy ES<br />

classes. Technicians who do not have a registered course completion will not receive <strong>Toshiba</strong><br />

Technical Support. To install, upgrade, or maintain the system, you must know:<br />

• Stratagy ES features (refer to the Stratagy General Description)<br />

• Stratagy ES operation, customization, and administration<br />

• Stratagy ES installation procedures<br />

• The telephone system to which you will connect Stratagy ES. (Refer to the appropriate<br />

installation documentation.)<br />

• Basic knowledge of Windows NT<br />

• Computer terms, such as: I/O, serial port, parallel port, RS-232, and RAM.<br />

• How to safely open a personal computer and install/remove cards.<br />

• How to identify basic components of a personal computer: e.g., motherboard, I/O controller,<br />

video card, I/O ports, modem.<br />

• How to connect the monitor and keyboard, and how to power on the computer.<br />

• Telephony terms, such as: station side, Central Office (CO), single line, hunt group, coverage<br />

path, hookflash, call forward on ring-no-answer, call forward busy, Dual Tone Multi-frequency<br />

(DTMF), and call forward-all calls.<br />

• Call progress tone identification (ring, busy, All Trunks Busy (ATB), and error tones)<br />

• The difference between an RJ11, RJ14, RJ48, and DB37 connector.<br />

• How to use a test set or line monitor to analyze test calls.<br />

If you are unfamiliar with any of the above, please take the time to learn the necessary information<br />

before you attempt to install Stratagy ES.<br />

System Administrator<br />

Your company will assign all or some System Administrator functions to an employee who knows<br />

your telephone system, organizational structure, and the needs of your customers and employees.<br />

The <strong>Toshiba</strong> Dealer’s Technical Service Representative will perform the remaining functions.<br />

System Administrator functions may include:<br />

• Initial setup (assisting the Installer with defining your company’s configuration and<br />

customization requirements)<br />

• Customizing mailboxes<br />

• Generating reports<br />

• Performing system shutdown and restart<br />

• Backing up the system<br />
