Provisions for future environmental clean-up measures amounted to NOK 284 million as of December 31, 2011, while asset<br />
retirement obligations constituted NOK 1,549 million. The latter includes costs related to disposal of spent potlining, closures<br />
of mines and bauxite residue (red mud) deposits, and Norwegian power plant concessions to be reverted to the Norwegian government.<br />
