The upper level of parcel 3 istypically mined in wet weather due to gooddrainage in the pit.when it opens.Currently, a geotechnical study is being completedto examine the potential expansion of mining togreater depths as proposed by the SFPUC, plus theopening of the new pit on Parcel 7.a Surface mining permits are issued and environmental review conducted by the Alameda County Planning Department.
