He was a veteran <strong>of</strong> WW II, havingserved with the paratroopers. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dennis Riley <strong>of</strong>Hampstead, NH and Ernest David Blanchard <strong>of</strong> Torrington. He was predeceased by a son,Thomas Joseph Blanchard, a Marine who was killed in Vietnam. Mr. Ernest & Mrs. MaureenBlanchard have been notified <strong>of</strong> the death <strong>of</strong> their son, in the US Marine Corps PFC whileserving in Vietnam. A graduate <strong>of</strong> Lewis Mills High School, he left for Vietnam on 7-7 and diedone month later, 8-7-1968. His brother Sgt. Dennis R. serving with the Air Force in Germany, isscheduled to return home today. Ernest, a younger brother is a student at Lewis Mills. Burial atRose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill. (Vegh)Blasko died Friday (August 23, 2002) at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was bornNovember 1, 1921 in Karos, Hungary, son <strong>of</strong> the late Joseph and Agnes (Visovszki) Blasko andhad lived in Buffalo, NY prior to moving to Canton 36 years ago. He served in the HungarianArmy during World War II. Mr. Blasko owned and operated retail gas stations for many years. ATexaco station in Buffalo, NY, an Arco station in Farmington and both Mobil and Exxon stationsin Avon, and Collinsville prior to his retirement in 1984. He was a devout Catholic and a member<strong>of</strong> St. Patrick's Church in Collinsville, where he served as an usher for 35 years, and a member<strong>of</strong> the Hungarian Club in Newington. Besides his wife <strong>of</strong> 54 years, he is survived by a son,George Blasko <strong>of</strong> Canton; three daughters, Maria K. Dalstrom and her husband Bruce <strong>of</strong> Berlin,Victoria B. Chenard and her husband Peter E. <strong>of</strong> Glastonbury and Priscilla B. Bourret <strong>of</strong>Syracuse, NY; two sisters, Irene Krul and her husband Gabriel and Elizabeth Vacila, all <strong>of</strong>Barkhamsted; six grandchildren, Melissa Grzywinski <strong>of</strong> Fairfield, Matthew Grzywinski <strong>of</strong> NewYork City, NY, Justin Blasko <strong>of</strong> Berlin, Timothy Blasko <strong>of</strong> Nantucket, MA, Krist<strong>of</strong>er Chenard andErica Chenard, both <strong>of</strong> Glastonbury; a niece, a nephew; and many relatives in Hungary andSlovakia. He resided in <strong>Burlington</strong> most <strong>of</strong> his life, moving to Bristol 11 years ago. Inaddition to his wife, he is survived by a stepson, William LaForest <strong>of</strong> Terryville; two stepdaughters, Betty Jane Gesking <strong>of</strong> Bristol and Nancy Capparelli <strong>of</strong> Brewster, MA; three brothers,Reinhardt <strong>of</strong> Bristol, Roger <strong>of</strong> Harwinton and Clarence <strong>of</strong> North Eastham, MA; two sisters,Laura Barr and Clara Mason, both <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>.
