Born 9-28-1929 in Hartford, he was the son <strong>of</strong> Hazel Abalan Stark <strong>of</strong>Bristol and the late George R.Abalan. He was a Navy veteran <strong>of</strong> WW II. Besides his mother, heis survived by four sisters, Aneysa Bristol, Gloria Brodeur and Virginia Stepka, all <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>,and Louise Pollard <strong>of</strong> Orleans, MA and two brothers, George R.Abalan Jr. <strong>of</strong> Westfield, MA andRobert "Sarge" Abalan <strong>of</strong> Unionville. Born in Elmwood, 12-5-1918, son <strong>of</strong> thelate William and Katherine Aksamitos. He resided in West Hartford and Tarrytown, NY for anumber <strong>of</strong> years prior to moving to FL in 1979. He was the owner <strong>of</strong> several machine shops, allin West Hartford and Newington area. He was a US Navy Veteran serving during WW II.Besides his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank J. and Elleen J.Aksamit Jr.<strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>; a grandson, Scott F. <strong>of</strong> Farmington; a brother, John <strong>of</strong> North Haven; twostepsons, David and James Bates <strong>of</strong> FL. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael and abrother, Charles. Burial in Center Cemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong> CT.AKSAMIT, MICHAEL, 16, <strong>of</strong> 187 Covey Road was pronounced dead at the scene <strong>of</strong> ahead on automobile collision. (3-10-1968 12-23-1984). He was the son <strong>of</strong> Frank J. andEileen (Nevers) Aksamit. He was born in New Britain and had lived in Bristol prior to movingto <strong>Burlington</strong> 8 years ago. He was very active in the Senior High Youth Group at <strong>Burlington</strong>Congregational Church. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Scott F. <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Mary Nevers <strong>of</strong> Southington; his paternalgrandparents, Frank Aksamit <strong>of</strong> Bayonet Point, FL and Rose Sheridan <strong>of</strong> Margate, FL.Robert Cook, 16 <strong>of</strong> 30 Covey Road, the driver <strong>of</strong> the car in which Aksamit was a passenger,was listed in stable condition. Patrick K.Cote, 20, <strong>of</strong> 690 Plainville Ave., Farmington, was treatedand released. Police said Cote was driving south on Route 179 when his car crossed over thecenter divider into the northbound lanes. Burial in Center Cemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong>, CT.ALDERMAN, ARTHUR RICHMOND, 84, <strong>of</strong> Punch Brook Road, 12-30-1895 12-13-1980.Active in Republican politics, he was a member <strong>of</strong> the Republican <strong>Town</strong> Committee in<strong>Burlington</strong> many years, served in the General Assembly in the late 1920s and was a probatejudge in <strong>Burlington</strong> from 1929 to 1965. A Navy veteran <strong>of</strong> W.W. I, he was a member <strong>of</strong>American Legion Post 122 more than 50 years. He was a devoted member <strong>of</strong> Village Lodge 29AF & AM <strong>of</strong> Collinsville, <strong>Burlington</strong> Historical Society and <strong>Burlington</strong> Congregational Church. Heis survived by two sons, Leonard R. <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong> and Richard E. <strong>of</strong> Mount Airy, MD; a daughter,Mrs. Nancy A. Jewett <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>; two brothers, Ernest <strong>of</strong> Unionville and Howard <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>;four sisters, Mrs. Edward Reeve <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>, Mrs. Ford Wessman <strong>of</strong> Meriden, Mrs. DanielConnors and Mrs. Milton McCoy, both <strong>of</strong> Orlando, FL. Burial in Center Cemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong>,CT.ALDERMAN, CAROLINE LOUISE(Finkenzeller) 54, wife <strong>of</strong> Clifford <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>, died 12-9-1942. Mrs. Alderman was born in Baden, Germany 8-27-1888. The family came to <strong>Burlington</strong>two years later. After her marriage to Clifford, the couple moved to Terryville where they residedfor a number <strong>of</strong> years. They returned to <strong>Burlington</strong> five years ago. Besides her husband, sheleaves a son Truman E. <strong>of</strong> Bristol, a daughter Mrs. Erma Allyn <strong>of</strong> Terryville, a sister Mrs.Wilhelmina Packer <strong>of</strong> Plymouth; three brothers, Joseph Finkenzeller <strong>of</strong> Terryville, Christopherand William <strong>of</strong> Waterbury. Burial in Center Cemetery <strong>Burlington</strong>, CT.2
