Born in Unionville 12-8-1904, son <strong>of</strong> the late Charles and Eva (Martin) Fuller, he was alifelong resident <strong>of</strong> the area. He is survived by a sister, Edith Delbon <strong>of</strong> Avon; a brother, Frank <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>. He was predeceased by three sisters, Aleta Fuller Barnes, Lillian Fuller Bristol andDorothy Fuller Demski. Burial in Case Cemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong> CT.FULLER, SADIE S. 85, wife <strong>of</strong> Earl M.Fuller, <strong>of</strong> Case Road, died 9-15-1985. Born 5-23-1900in Ridgewood, N.J. she was a daughter <strong>of</strong> the late William and Sadie (Van Dalinda)Smith. Before herretirement she was an occupational therapist at Manhattan State Hospital, New York.FUNK, ERMA MAE, 74, 4-29-1906 8-8-1980. She was appointed Bristol's first womanprobation <strong>of</strong>ficer in 1928 and was also the state's youngest. A resident <strong>of</strong> the Bristol\<strong>Burlington</strong>area all <strong>of</strong> her life, Miss Funk lived on Stony Hill Road, Whigville. She was the daughter <strong>of</strong> thelate Emil H. and Jessie (Austin)Funk. She is survived by a brother, Augustus G. Funk.FURNISS, WILLIAM ERNST MARSH, M.D. 90, died 7-14-2002 <strong>of</strong> multiple myeloma at aBristol Nursing Care Center. He was the son <strong>of</strong> Henry Watson Furniss, M.D. and Anne(Wishmann)Furniss. He is survived by his wife <strong>of</strong> 63 years, Doris (Ireland) Furniss; five childrenand their spouses, Diane and Richard Happy, Richard Furniss, David and Jerre Furniss, Donaldand Jean Furniss and Duane and Stacy Furniss; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.He was a flight surgeon with the 92 nd bomb group in the 8 th army where he was stationed inEngland for the duration <strong>of</strong> World War II. While there he took extremely rare action photography.Dr. Furniss flew on some bomb missions into Germany, filming crews as they worked B-17planes. He also had one if Bristol’s largest obstetrician-gynecologists practices for 25 years. Healso served as the physician for the <strong>Burlington</strong> School District. A <strong>Burlington</strong> resident he oversawthe health district from 1978 to 1996. He was also a noted rock and mineral collector.FURST, JOSEPH M. Sr. 93, formerly <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>, husband <strong>of</strong> the late Lina (Debatin) Furst, died 6-18-1994. He was born 11-11-1900 in Waldburg (Wurtenberg) Germany and had lived in <strong>Burlington</strong> forthe past 46 years. He was a WW I Veteran <strong>of</strong> the German Air Force. He is survived by a son anddaughter-in-law, Joseph and Valerie Furst <strong>of</strong> Rocky Hill. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Collinsville, CT.GALLAGHER, GEORGE W. Jr. 78, <strong>of</strong> 840 <strong>Burlington</strong> Ave. husband <strong>of</strong> Gertrude (Busse)Gallagher, died 11-20-1992. He was born in Farmington, 12-31-1913 and was the son <strong>of</strong> thelate George W. Sr. and Anastacia (Keith) Gallagher. He resided in Bristol all his life. In additionto his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Carole Ryan <strong>of</strong> Bristol; a brother, John <strong>of</strong> Edgewater,Fla.; two sisters, Alice Bartz <strong>of</strong> Bristol and Helen Mackiewicz <strong>of</strong> Terryville. Burial in CenterCemetery, <strong>Burlington</strong>, CT.GALLAGHER, Gertrude B.(Busse), 76, <strong>of</strong> 840 <strong>Burlington</strong> Ave., Bristol, widow <strong>of</strong> George W.Gallagher, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1997, at Nursing Care Center <strong>of</strong> Bristol. Mrs. Gallagher wasborn in Bristol on Feb. 10, 1920, and was a daughter <strong>of</strong> the late Frederick and Eleanor(Ball)Busse. A Bristol resident all <strong>of</strong> her life, she was employed by International Silver Co., Meriden,for 30 years, then worked in the engineering department at Bristol City Hall for 10 years beforeretiring in 1982. She was'a member <strong>of</strong> St. Joseph Church, Bristol. Mrs. Gallagher is survived bya daughter, Carole Ryan <strong>of</strong> Bristol; four grandchildren and a spouse, Robert and Gina Ryan,Debra Clark, Suzanne I Haberern, and Shawn Ryan; six great-grandchildren; and severalnieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 1997, 9 a.m., fromFunk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Joseph Church for a Mass <strong>of</strong> Christianburial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in <strong>Burlington</strong> Center Cemetery.
