He is survived by his two sisters,Nancy Hams <strong>of</strong> Seymour, MO, Dawn Fitch <strong>of</strong> San Isabel, CA; and his stepsister, Lisa Belcher <strong>of</strong>New Milford. As a young man, he attended choir school in Seattle, WA, and performed withmany youth choirs in NYC. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy School <strong>of</strong> Electronics in 1958, as anElectronic Instrument Technician and the University <strong>of</strong> Hartford in 1961. He was employed byHartford Machine Screw Co. now Stanadyne, where he helped develop their diesel injectionpump. He worked many years at Automation <strong>of</strong> West Hartford. In his retirement, rather than sitback, he was constantly using his technical background to aid friends and business associates.Bill had a great love for books and was always sharing them with others. He was a walking trove<strong>of</strong> knowledge about our world and how it worked. Bill marched to his own drummer, but he didso with true conviction and a high ethical standard. Bill was truthfully “one <strong>of</strong> a kind” and will betruly missed. Funk.FURNISS, WILLIAM ERNST MARSH, M.D. 90, died 7-14-2002 <strong>of</strong> multiple myeloma at aBristol Nursing Care Center. He was the son <strong>of</strong> Henry Watson Furniss, M.D. and Anne(Wishmann)Furniss.
