Aresident <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong> for 10 years. Born in Washington County, VA 4-28-1917 he was the son<strong>of</strong> Conley E. and the late Maude (Woodward) Minnick. He served in the Air Force from 1940to 1945. Besides his father, he leaves his wife, Mrs. Doris (Twining) Minnick; a son, Charles,and a daughter, Carol Lee both <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>; three brothers and two sisters, all out <strong>of</strong> state.Burial in Abingdon, VA.MINNIER, GEORGE CARL, 69, Of Lovely Street, Avon, husband <strong>of</strong> Shirley (Stewart)Minnier, died Wednesday, (February 1, 2006) at John Dempsey Hospital, Farmington. He wasborn December 10, 1936, in Bloomsburg, PA, and grew up in Catawissa, PA, son <strong>of</strong> WilbertTrout and the late Christine {George) Minnier Trout. He lived in Avon for more than forty years.He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Marines where he played the clarinet in the MarineCorps Band. After his discharge, he served a two-year apprenticeship at Pratt & WhitneyAircraft in East Hartford as a Tool and Die Maker. He married his beloved Shirley on June 6,1959. Mr. Minnier was employed as a Sales Manager and Manager <strong>of</strong> Application Engineeringat Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool Division for many years prior to his retirement. He was amember <strong>of</strong> the New England MG "T" Register and the American Legion. He was amazinglymechanically inclined and was an avid antique car restorer and was currently working on a 1947MG TC. Besides his wife and step-father, he is survived by a son, Attorney Jeffrey W. Minnier <strong>of</strong>Bristol; daughter, Wendy A. Minnier <strong>of</strong> Avon; brother, David A. Trout and wife Carol <strong>of</strong> Fulton,MD; two sisters-in-Iaw, Estelle DeVries <strong>of</strong> Lititz, PA and June Stewart <strong>of</strong> Friday Harbor, WA;brother-in-law, Thomas Stewart <strong>of</strong> Columbia, SC; and many nieces and nephews. Friends maycall at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike, Canton, Monday, February 6, from 6-8p.m. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, February 7, 10 a.m. at Vincent Funeral Home,Canton, with Reverend James S. Wheeler <strong>of</strong>ficiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be in<strong>Burlington</strong> Center Cemetery, Speilman Highway, <strong>Burlington</strong>. Dr. 55, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>, wife <strong>of</strong> Jan L. Minor, died Sunday, (December 2,2001) at Hartford Hospital. Born in C<strong>of</strong>feyville, KS, January 23, 1946, daughter <strong>of</strong> Hugh andOllie (Hall) Jarvis, she resided there until moving to Independence, KS in 1956. She graduatedfrom Independence High School and Emporia State University (KSTC) and received her Ph.D.degree, in physiology and biophysics, from the University <strong>of</strong> Iowa College <strong>of</strong> Medicine in 1973.Dr. Minor then taught at the University <strong>of</strong> Missouri, in Kansas City until 1979, when she movedto <strong>Burlington</strong>. From 1983 to the present, she taught at Tunxis Community College, where shewas an Associate Pr<strong>of</strong>essor. During her career she was a member <strong>of</strong> several pr<strong>of</strong>essionalorganizations. As a mother and wife, she was active in many church and communityorganizations. In her 22 years as a member <strong>of</strong> the Congregational Church in <strong>Burlington</strong>, sheserved as needed as sexton, Sunday School Superintendent and chaired the Deaconate. Insupporting her children, she relished the many friends and acquaintances she made throughher children’s participation in Boy and Girl Scouts and band parents. In 1990, she was placed inthe Band Parents Hall <strong>of</strong> Fame at Lewis S. Mills High School for her work. Judy loved to fishand hunt. She loved to cook and delighted friends and family with many treats. She seriouslywelcomed the challenges <strong>of</strong> conducting meetings and organizations. She greatly enjoyed thesuccess <strong>of</strong> her students and loved the challenges and the chances she had to interact withthem. Her enthusiasm for life and its joys and knowledge <strong>of</strong> her physical being proved no matchfor the physical challenges to which she succumbed. Besides her husband, she is survived byher son, David Minor; her daughter, Dawn Perkins and her husband, Justin; and her much lovedgrandson, Jacob all <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>; her sister, Joan Gordon and her husband, Claire <strong>of</strong> Caney,83
