A reception will follow in Bristol. Visitation for family and friends will takeplace at the funeral home from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Sr., 76, <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>, husband <strong>of</strong> Barbara V. (Leblanc) Buchanan,died on Thursday, (January 29, 2004) at Charotte-Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. Mr.Buchanan was born in Bristol on June 2, 1927 and was a son <strong>of</strong> the late George and Agnes(Greer) Buchanan. He was raised in Bristol and served in the United States Navy during WorldWar II. A <strong>Burlington</strong> resident since 1949, he worked on the family farm, Greer's Poultry Farm,and was also employed at Superior Electric for 21 years before retiring in 1988. He was amember <strong>of</strong> the American Legion Post 200 in Rocky Hill and the Congregational Church <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>. In addition to his wife, Mr. Buchanan is survived by three sons, James G. BuchananJr., and his wife, Barbara, <strong>of</strong> Burns, OR, Gary Buchanan <strong>of</strong> Derry, NH, and John Buchanan <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>; a brother, George Buchanan <strong>of</strong> Bristol; a sister, Dorothy Hood <strong>of</strong> Bristol; and severalnieces and nephews. The funeral will be private. Burial will be at the convenience <strong>of</strong> the familyin <strong>Burlington</strong> Center Cemetery. There are no calling hours. He was born 5-10-1927, in New Britain, son <strong>of</strong> the late Ernest and Olive (Pickup)Buchardt, and had lived in <strong>Burlington</strong> the last 47 years. George was a Veteran <strong>of</strong> WW II, USArmy Air Corps. He was a supporter <strong>of</strong> the American Red Cross Blood Bank, donating over 13gallons. He is survived by 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul and Lisa (McCuin)Buchardt <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>, Carl <strong>of</strong> Springfield, MA and William <strong>of</strong> Spotsyvania, VA; a brother, Ernest <strong>of</strong>Farmington; three sisters, Mary Alice Griffin <strong>of</strong> Unionville, Shirley Bronson <strong>of</strong> Winchester Centerand Barbara Rowe <strong>of</strong> East Hartford. He was predeceased by his twin sister, L.Jane Buchardt.Burial in Village Cemetery, Collinsville, CT.BUCHARDT, MARJORIE MARIE (Weirauch), 67 <strong>of</strong> Old <strong>Burlington</strong> Avenue, wife <strong>of</strong> GeorgeW. Buchardt, died 11-16-1993. She was born 10-24-1926, in <strong>Burlington</strong>, daughter <strong>of</strong> the late Billand Alvenia (Fahr) Weirauch, lived all her life on Old <strong>Burlington</strong> Avenue, <strong>Burlington</strong>. Besides herhusband, she is survived by 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, Carl <strong>of</strong> Springfield, MA, William <strong>of</strong>Richmond, VA and Paul and Lisa <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong>; two sisters, Dorothy Locks <strong>of</strong> <strong>Burlington</strong> andHildegard Goodwin <strong>of</strong> Sunrise, FL. Burial in Village Cemetery, Collinsville, CT.BUCK, WILLIAM--who was drowned, has been recovered. Mr. Buck and another gentlemanwas shooting wild ducks <strong>of</strong>f the Sound at Short Beach last January, 1900. It was supposed theboat capsized in some way, throwing the occupants into the water, as the guns and ammunitionwere found, but diligent search failed to find the young men until a week ago the body <strong>of</strong> Mr.Buck was found. Mr. Buck was 21 years <strong>of</strong> age and the youngest son <strong>of</strong> George E.Buck <strong>of</strong><strong>Burlington</strong>. The aged father feels his loss deeply.20
